Join in the fun at Semaphore Beach this Easter long weekend to experience the colour and talent of Adelaide’s International Kite Festival.
Running from 20th April until 22nd April, this family-friendly event is completely free and sure to be memorable for all. Founded in 1997, the festival is organised by the Adelaide Kite Flyers Association. Featuring both local and international kite flyers, this festival showcases a whole lot of aerial talent. With kites of all shapes and sizes, you can expect to see a magical display of colour and creativity flying high in the sky. Suitable for all ages, the whole family will love this outdoor festival, which is a vibrant celebration of kite flying and community. Featuring kiters of all abilities, the skills and displays on show at this festival are sure to leave you in awe.
The Festival Marketplace will also be running from 11 am to 5 pm with stallholders selling a variety of goodies including kites and a selection of delicious foods to keep your energy levels in check. Located on the beach, you can also treat yourself to a dip in the ocean if you’re feeling up to it. The Semaphore jetty is also a popular place where festival goers have flocked to in previous years with an unbeatable view of both the sea and the sky.
Make sure to pack a water bottle, slap on some sunscreen, take a hat and bring a pair of sunglasses so you’re able to get a good look at the colourful, kite-packed sky. You can expect to see plane, train and automobile kites at this year’s International Kite Festival plus easter bunny and dragon kites alongside an array of other exciting shapes.
With the Festival holding Easter-themed activities, we’re sure you’ll be left entertained and enjoy an Easter unlike any other.
So be sure to round up the troops and head down to Adelaide’s Semaphore beach on the foreshore this Easter long weekend so you don’t miss out on enjoying all that this free, family-friendly event has to offer.
