Semaphore | Famous Carousel

The colourful Semaphore Carousel was built in by Len Northey in 1928 and moved to Semaphore around 1938.

The carousel is managed by the Rotary Club of Henley Beach to raise money for local and international charities.  it is believed to be the largest operating carousel in Australia with 40 handcrafted wooden horses with most other rides like this only have 36 horses. As a seaside carnival attraction of yesteryear, the place is magical and a must for visitors, families and also a unique venue to hire for private parties and functions.

Join Captain Salmonbeard and his reluctant crew for another perilous adventure on the seven seas.

The bumbling crew of scallywags and misfits have become lost at sea on their very first attempt at becoming ‘real’ pirates

While wallowing in the watery wilderness, a mysterious, though strangely familiar visitor, emerges from the depths and offers them help. The crew are going to having to write their own book of piracy as they’ve strayed so far off course, the original Big Book of Pirates is now useless. And according to pirate legend, that book can only be written in dragon’s blood…

National Railway Museum Family Fun Fair

The railway museum’s annual Family Fun Fair, held during the July school holidays each year, has always proven so popular with young families.

There are loads of activities, song and dance and plenty of special attractions, including Dig a Dino, Animals Anonymous, Carnival Barrel Organ, Cool 4 Kids and of course those extremely popular two steam engines – Bub and Bill.

Other attractions include a theatrette, a huge model railway and plenty of displays and carriages to look in, plus there are various catering options on site.  All entertainment and all train rides are included with the admission fee which makes for a great value family outing.
